Pcmcia Dlink 650 network configuration

I’m trying to configure NTO tcpip services on a Dell Inspiron 7000 using a
DLINK DE-650
pcmcia 10baseT card. pin detects the card. The network drivers are started
with:

io-net -dne2000 ioport=200 irq=3 -ptcpip
ifconfig en0 192.168.1.26 up

The latter produces the following error message twice:

ne2000_outs: Unable to set write address

Can anyone tell me what’s missing?

I downloaded the 1/21/2001 NTO release of qnxrtp.exe and installed it.
