Installation problems...

I am trying to install QNX rtp on my NT system. I have a 20GIG
WD EIDE disk and am instlling rtp to the first partition (C:). This is
on a DELL computer.

It makes the floppy but during the boot, it complains that it can not
find files ( /.diskroot, …/packages).

Any guesses?

Grazie mille,

Hi,

Are you installing to a QNX partition?
If you are using the windows installer it will not work. QNX will not work on an NTFS partition and
if your installing QNX under windows the config.sys and autoexec.bat files are required to boot
(which NT does not have).

Regards,

Joe

Thanks for your response… Can you explain that a bit more??

All my partitions are FAT. I am installing the RTP download which installs
itself on
a Windos system and creats a boot which you can boot from. What is “windows
installer”?

Do you imply one can not run RTP under NT at all?

Thanks a lot,

With a FAT partition and using a boot disk QNX can run under NT.
Try creating a new boot disk, if this does not work try removing and re-installing QNX.
By “windows installer” I mean the executable (which you are using) that runs under Windows
and installs QNX in a FAT partition.

Joe

I just tried the same procedure on another computer and it worked. I assume
there is something in the hardware of DELL that is not supported. Is there a
list of
supported systems? If I need to install it on another machine, what should I
be
looking into (besides what is in FAQ, which excludes only 4 or 5 hardware)?

Thanks.
