/.diskroot file for root not found

Hi there:

Any help is appreciated with the below :–

I get a “.diskroot file for root not found … unable to
locate devc-con” message when I try to boot an
install from yesterday’s qnxrtp.exe (I assume that’s v6.1)
download. I am an experienced computer user but
new to QNX.

QNXRTP worked the boot floppy OK and saw
the 2 IDE hard drives and the IDE CD/RW correctly from
what I could understand of the “verbose mode” output
while booting QNX but it stopped at the message above.

I am installing on a 550 MHz Pentium 3 with 384MB
RAM. The IDE controllers are on an Asus P2-99B
motherboard. It uses the Intel PIIX4E (and Intel 440ZX)
chip-set. Normally I run Windows 2000 Professional
using NTFS but I deliberately re-formatted a dedicated
6GB IDE hard drive with FAT32 for QNX.

(Looking at previous postings I got the feeling that
the problem could be that QNX was installed on a
separate IDE (FAT32) hard drive that was a secondary
IDE master not the primary one. I physically swapped the
cables so the “QNX-equipped” hard drive was the
primary master and changed the BIOS correctly
(Award BIOS v4.51). The identical messages appeared
and the drive was recognized so it is not that.)

Any help is appreciated. I loved the single floppy
demo of QNX and want to get using a full system soon.
Please e-mail and post you replies.

Hello,

Hi:

I do not see any option under F2 when I press the spacebar
during boot. I have looked through all the options and there is
also no mention of a full EIDE scan. Do I need the CDROM version
of QNX or is there something I am missing here?!

I appreciate further help.
