Proxy Authentication

How do I enter the username / password etc for authentication with our proxy
server (similar to Windows) I have entered the proxy server IPs etc, but
now I need to enter my name and password so I can access the repoistory /
webpages.

Thanks

You have to enter these informations directly in the internet software
preferences.

In Voyager, look at Edit->Preferences.
Click on Connection and check the ‘Use Proxy Server’ box, enter the correct
information and a login/passwd dialog box will be displayed for the next
connection.

Same for the Package Installer, but you may encounter some problems to pass
through your firewall (in 6.1, or 6.0 before patch A or maybe B, i don’t
remember). If this is the case, wait for Jerry Chappell (QNX) who is looking at
the problem.

Alain.

Hi Alain

That is the problem, the " login/passwd dialog box will be displayed for the
next connection." never shows up

I am running QNX 6.1 now, fresh install. It works for neither the
repository nor the web browser.

Thanks
Michael

I’m setup with 6.1 also. Voyager works fine (prompts for username and
password because of proxy) as it was in 6.0 but the pkg-installer is not
working with the QNX WWW repository since the upgrade to 6.1. The CD-ROM
repository is ok. I tried to access another WWW repository just to be sure
it was not because of QNX repository and it did not work either.

I hope this will be repaired soon.

Me, as they say, too. Installer ignores the use-proxy setting; you can snoop
the wire and see it trying to connect to qnx.com directly. Works great when
connected directly to the 'net.

Not normal for the web browser (if it’s voyager) check your network settings (IP
address, netmask, gateway IP, name server, in phlip), and check again you proxy
setting (name and port). Try some pings (gateway, name server).

It should work!

Alain.
