installation of TAO

Has any body had experience installing ACE+TAO on QNXRTP? Are there any
posts talking about how to do it?

thanks
Joe

There was a post not too long ago about how to port TAO to QNX 6, but

unfortunately I can’t locate it right now. In fact, I found this message
during my search. Are these groups archived anywhere? I thought it was in
qdn.public.porting, or qdn.public.qnxrtp.porting… I remember it involved
reinstalling gcc to circumvent some problematic changes in the specific
version of gcc that ships with QNX. If you find that post, please let me
know.

Thanks,
Ben

I don’t believe that QSSL has ever deleted the messages from these news
groups.

THANK YOU QSSL !

Many reader clients however delete their copies after X number of days or
some such other.

If you’re using “tin”, there’s an option (-G nmsgs) which will limit the newsgroup
fetch to “nmsgs”. Usually, I set “nmsgs” to something “fast”, like 200, but when
I’m searching I jam it up to 20k or more.

Cheers,
-RK

Thanks for the tip. I’m actually using Microsoft Outlook on Windows 2000.
(Please don’t hate me…) And yes - you are right that my client was
deleting old messages. What an evil default.

Well, I just found the post - in a yahoo group. But it should also be in
qdn.public.porting:

Ben

In the good old days, I liked using tin. I liked tin because it works from
text consoles. I like text consoles. They’re FAST!. I liked to download
the entire QUICS data base to my local system and use my local system for
searches. That was way fast too. Unfortunately I have not had much luck
downloading the newsgroup posts to a local data base that I could use tin
on.

If anyone gets this working, please let me know.

Yes, but did anyone get ACE/TAO built using the Dinkum libraries?
