installation problems neo-magic & yamaha sound chip

Hi Ramin,

well, uh, nope!
if i click shutdown, it simply shuts down.
it would be nice to have such a menu, may
it can be configured somehow?

Hmm… Actually I did nothing for that menu. I installed QNX RTP 6.0 and later (at July) I’d
upgraded my system to 6.1 release. If I select shutdown from context menu (right-click on desktop)
I have the next menu:
End Photon session
Shutdown system
Shutdown and reboot
I think this one is a gui front-end (dialog window) of phshutdown. Maybe you have other release of
phshutdown, or system menu pass some switches to force shutdown. Look at launch menu configuration
files.

If I click on “Shutdown” button of “Welcome” window I have the menu:
Exit to Text mode
Shutdown system
Shutdown and reboot
I believe this one is a window of phlogin. If you still are using “nophoton” file you bypass
phlogin, so you can not see this window. As far as I can remember phlogin had this menu window in
6.0 release. I don’t believe it has any config files.

I may be wrong about menu item (I don’t remember by heart all words exactly) but I’m sure about
sense.

Best regards,
Eduard.

Hi Ramin,

sloginfo shows a “Faulted in v86 call” which is occuring when the
mode is trying to be set. I talked to the gfx guys and there’s not
much we can do to debug that without having the hardware here.
The problem may not be with the graphics driver. Is there
any possibility of getting the hardware shipped up here?

hi,

i de-installed 6.0 and got the fresh complete 6.1.

indeed, i ran the script as root, for some programs it
didn’t find the path, but more over it had problems with
the '2>/dev/null ', i don’t know why.

i didn’t change the standard bootscript. it’s completely
fresh from the internet.

Hi Ramin,

 > It is busy

Did you do a freah install of QNX 6.1 or did you upgrade? Also
the script you used, try running it as root and it should work
properly.

Thanks

Erick.

thanx a lot,

the script itself did not really work,
i had to remove the 2>/dev/null lines
another problem was, that crttrap did not write
anything to the textfile, just

/usr/photon/bin/devgt-iographics -dldevg-neomagic.so -I0 -d0x10c8,0x0016 -VV

/usr/photon/bin/devgt-iographics -dldevg-vesabios.so -I0 -d0x10c8,0x0016 -VV
and wrote one file, i think it was graphics-modes

the script didn’t compress the .gnfo files, so
i took them to win and zipped them there
u will find this zipfile attached.

i hope, it gives you the information that you need, anyway.
it would be really cool to start using qnx6.1. i’m
really hot to write my first own programs for it.

cheers ramin

well, i am sitting in germany and i am not able to send my
notebook for a couple of weeks away as it is essential for
my work.
depending on the political situation i will be in montral
from 7th -15th of october. if you have a subsidiary there…

maybe you can get somewhere in the us a sony z600ne,
i think the current model is called VAIO R505.

anyway, what i do not understand is, that it worked
prefectly under qnx 6.0 and obviously you haven’t changed
the driver, so i don’t understand what the software does
other than it did befor. really strange.
