Package Installer responds with misleading error message.

Hello,

During our recent installation of RTP 6.1.0 and the subsequent
application
of the 6.1.0A patch, we went through the pain that several others have
noted
regarding not being able to get through a proxy/firewall. Now that
we have 6.1.0A installed, we can indeed get to the QNX WWW repository,
but we came across a rather misleading error message.

If, in the Installer’s Edit->Preferences (Connection Tab) dialog (see
ConnectionPrefs.jpg attached below), you enter an incorrect password,
the
installer program will come back with an error “The location does not
contain a repository” which is not correct. Also attached below is a
summary of the packet trace that shows the firewall sent the message
“407 Proxy Authentication Required”.

It seems to me that the error message should indicated that the
authentication
is required or failed, not that the location didn’t have a repository,
since it
never even had a chance to see if it was a legal repository!

Hello Phil,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have entered this into
our bug tracking system to be fixed in the future.

Thanks again,
Dave B.
