Firewire PCI OHCI Card

Hello there,

for some days now I tried to find the solution for getting our new hardware,
a Firewire PCI OHCI card from Mindready, to run on an ordinary PC with VIA
chipset. The card and the drivers work fine with other motherboards (without
VIA chipset), but on the desired system it doesn’t work at all.

Does somebody know if there are some general problems with QNX NEUTRINO in
connection with this kind of chipset? Is there any solution available?

There are currenlty no driver available Firewire driver for QNX6.

I’m not sure, but it looks like this card appears as a OHCI USB
controller to the OS (at least the Mindready website implies this), and
therefore (in theory) you should be able to use devu-ohci.

Nnamdi also implies that it does work with Neutrino on some
motherboards, but not on the motherboard with a Via chipset (“The card
and the drivers work fine with other motherboards”). If this solution
does in fact work with QNX 6.1 (even if it is only with certain
motherboards) I would be very interested in knowing this.

Untrue.

What is it exaclty that does not work?

the mindready IEEE1394 driver “sednet2drv”, that is shipped with the card to
be used for QNX NEUTRINO to demonstrate the proper function of the card,
does not run on the computer with the VIA chipset. QNX hangs immediately
after me starting the driver (no mouse movement or any other actions
possible).

So, I have the proper driver and the proper card and the proper operating
system, but using this combination with a VIA chipset board seems to cause
problems. Since this is the case, my suggestion is that QNX might have a
problem with this kind of chipset.

What could I do to get things runnning while using the VIA board?

Thanks.

The driver could be spinning and consuming 100% of CPU time.
Can you try starting a shell (on -p643 sh) for debugging purposes.

I have QNX6 running with VIA chipset. And there are lots of them
running all over. I would suspect something wrong with the driver
(maybe not sharing interrupt properly for example), I’d check with
Mindready.

Thanks.

From QSSL, but there is one from Mindready solutions:

Which this card apparently is from
