Sharing files / Security...

I wanted to setup a system to share files and maybe serve webpages for
internal documentation. I think QNX would be a better choice than Windows
since we are using it for our PC development, and it’s more reliable than
most Windows installations. I would like to setup project specific shares
with access control that allows QNX to windows interfacing in a PAINLESS
way. If it’s a pain in the neck, I don’t have time/funding on any project
to burn alot of hours setting it up. In other words I have to do it off the
clock because I’m not in MIS, I’m in Software Engineering.

Are there any suggestions.

Pete,

Look into SAMBA to server files to Windows machines. It allows you to
mount QNX directories on the windows side by doing the normal windows
file sharing stuff. There’s a bunch of discussions in these news groups
about compilation and setup. See Re: Samba on QNX6 in
qdn.public.qnxrtp.os for a start.

QNX comes with a simple web server slinger. Read the page or 2 of docs
carefully and you should be able to get it running. There are also
Apache ports around if you need more from a web server.
