BOOT PROBLEM

I decided to reinstall QNX on my pc from a windows partition.
After rebooting and selecting QNX from the boot menu, the machine freezes on
the following message:

Shutdown[0,0] s/c/f =11/1/11
c/d=ff80e517/ff841050
state(co)=nowlock
[0]PID

what is happening?

Thank you.

Are you on an SMP machine? Have you tried the NoDMA option?

I have two P800 processors.
I did try no DMA but to no avail.

What type of system is it? Have you tried disabling one of the CPU’s to
see if you can still boot it?

My system is a pc with dual pentium 800 running windows on one of five scsi
9 gig disks.
On my last successful install, I put QNX on a 6 GIG Fujitsu IDE on that
same system.
I tried disabling one of the processors, switching IDE from primary to
secondary, and even tried master and slave settings with the jumpers on the
hard drive.
I have a question. During the QNX install, when the user is prompted on what
drive he/she wants to install to, are the drive letters always
accurate/conformed with dos drive letters?
Thanks for your patience.

I assume you’re installing under Windows I guess (since you bring up drive
letters) - if you choose C: then it should install there, and if you choose
D: it should install on that (i’ve done that).

On thing to check, is that you don’t have an illegal IDE setup - a drive as
a slave, without a master. You mention also that you tried switching IDE
from primary to seconday for the hard drive … but you mention before
that, you have 1 of 5 scsi disks… I am confused.
