Q: "Cannot locate finstall"?

Howdy folks,

I’m running standard hardware and trying to get QNX 6.1 to
boot from either version of the .iso, so far with no luck.
All I want to do is install it in its own partition, where
I have reserved 1 GB in the primary table. It runs from
the windows98 config.sys loader just fine.

It starts from the CD ok, I get the dots, it tells me it is
mounting /dev/cd0, it mounts my windoze partitions, and
appears to mount the 2 .qfs files I have on windoze. Then,

“Cannot locate finstall” and I have to hard reset.

I’ve tried from floppies, I’ve rearranged my cdrom so it
is on slave to my master hard disk on IDE0, dma, nodma, etc, etc.
Perhaps if I knew what it was trying to do I could troubleshoot
further…

I remember what fun I had running QNX 2 (I think) in 1988-90,
on 8086’s (no less!) and would like to get it going again.

AMD Athlon XP 1600+
Asus A7V266 Motherboard
LG CDRW 24x10x40
40GB Maxtor ATA100 Harddrive
