How to Network Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 with QNX

I need some advice as to what modifications I need to make to a Toshiba
Satellite Pro 4600 Laptop to enable it to connect via ethernet to other QNX
machines. For instance what PCMCIA card should I use? Is the PCMCIA
controller in this laptop supported by QNX?

You need to make sure that the BIOS is set to CardBus/16-bit for PCCard
and see that devp-pccard is running. I presume that this laptop has a
CardBus adapter?

Once you have done the above, you can run ‘pin’ to make sure that the
PCCard sockets are seen. Most NE2000 compatible ethernet adapters are
supported, but I know that the D-Link De-660 and 660+ adapters work well,
as well as the Socket LP-E and LinkSys EC2T adapters. These are all
PCMCIA adapters.

If you want to run CardBus, you can use the 3Com 3C656 or 3C575 adapters.
You can look at our web site for more supported cards.

How do I ensure that devp-pccard is running?

Why do you assume that this laptop has a CardBus adapter? As far as I am
aware it does not, but of course I could be wrong. How would I tell?

pidin | grep devp-pccard

If you don’t see devp-pccard, then run devp-pccard.

pci -v | less

See if there is a CardBus entry.
