Dlink DFE-530TX nic

Hi Everybody,

I have a problem which is getting me crazy.

Some time ago I have installed a Dlink DFE-530TX on my PC and started using
it under Neutrino.

After a while the network connection just stopped working. I thought it
could be something to do with hardware, but if I boot WIN98 the connection
is OK. I have tried to reinstall the RTP ( version 6.1 ) but nothing has
improved. The network manager recognises the presence of the board, I can
start “io-net -dvia-rhine -ptcpip” and so on, but I cannot ping any other
computer on the same network segment.

The funny thing is that nicinfo does not report any physical address for the
board:

Dear Eddie,

I have tryied to put the network card in a different PCI slot, now it works
noprob :slight_smile:

I’m curious about one thing: all my problems started after installing win98
on a different partition. Can Windows drivers alter some hardware setting of
the NIC and make it troublesome for Neutrino ?

Did it happen anything similar to you ?

work… Does the DFE-530TX usually have to have the address manually
specified?

I’m having a similar problem under RTP 6.1.

My network card is detected, phlip lists en0, but I can’t ping anything,
even my gateway (a linksys router).

Is there some way to manually specify information for the code (nicinfo
shows a node ID and media rate which are obviously wrong).

I’m new to the RTP, so I’m kind of lost as to how this is supposed to
work… Does the DFE-530TX usually have to have the address manually
specified?
