I’m installing 6.1 from the 442M ISO image onto a cheap SOYO SY-5EMA Super-7
motherboard/Athlon K-2 450MHz based PC. The initial installation phase that
creates a disk partition appears to run correctly, but upon rebooting I get
this output:
Detected EIDE. Scanning for devices
simq_timer: building abort ccb
ata_start_ccb: func 10
simq_timer: building abort ccb
ata_start_ccb: func 10
Finally the machine boots into Photon.
If I press during the boot (altboot) I can see the CD-ROM in any
configuration (slave on main HD channel, master on secondary channel). I
also don’t see the above text during the boot. If I allow the boot to
proceed without intervention I get the above and never any /fs/cd0.
Presumably, DMA is disabled with .
I used 3 different hard drives and 3 separate types of CD drives. This
machine previously had nto 6.0 running on it along with linux, qnx 4.25 and
Win98. I also tried various settings of disabling UDMA detection and IDE
options in the BIOS. So…
- Should I invest in a “better” motherboard?
or…
- Is the version of devb-eide on the latest 442M qnxrtp.iso image almost as
good as a previous version?
