I installed QNX6.2 on a Dell Dimension L1000R. It works fine, but the
problem is I always need to boot from floppy. No menu appears to choose QNX
when I boot from disk. I installed QNX6.2 through windows2000 and checked
the config.sys as indicated in the readme file.
Could anyone help me???
Win2K doesn’t use DOS as a kick-start and so the config.sys isn’t used. With
NT kernels you are pretty much required to use a boot floppy. Although I
understand some people have come up with ways to use the NT loader to
boot QNX.

Did you install QNX into own partition? Or into file on FAT partition?

Cesar,
Windows 2000 native filesystem is NTFS 5, I have a doubt concerning you have installed QNXRTP into
NTFS partition. I suppose you’re using FAT filesystem for bootable partition (as a rule it’s disk
c:). I’m not sure about license issues (I believe there is some old version of DOS for free
isn’t?), but technically you could use DOS as kick-start for booting QNX. You have to do ‘sys a:
c:’ in DOS while there is your boot floppy (DOS bootable floppy) in drive a:. You will loss windows
2000 booting. Save bootsector of disk c: into file c:\bootsect.dos. Launch winnt setup program and
repair bootsector. In boot.ini file, add the line:
c:=“QNXRTP kickstarted by DOS ”
Regards.
