qnxinstaller vs. pkg-installer

What is the intended difference between qnxinstaller and pkg-installer?

Not sure on your perspective here. I believe the motivation for the
qnxinstaller was to have an installer that doesn’t rely on the package
filesystem (since Windows doesn’t have a package filesystem). I don’t
think there is really “intended” to be any perceptible feature
differences between the two (other than a different UI), however, I
don’t believe that the qnxinstaller currently supports remote
repositories (AIUI this is not an “intended” difference, but simply that
the feature didn’t make it into the release).

So then, if I like the pkg-installer better there is no harm in using it
instead of qnxinstaller?

Pkg-installer is much more versitile to me.

One more thing. What is the single most reliable thing to look at on a CD
to determine what version of an RTP install it is?

It does not have to be visible to the installer program although it would be
REAL nice if it showed up when you examine a CD.

if you download the OS,to determine its version, just look at the guide for
downloading,if you purchase one ,just check the CDs label…
just a joke.
I think every version of RTP,there must be a readme file or something like
it,you can find it under windows or under QNX.

You would think there was something like a reame file but there is nothing
that has an identifiable version number.

I have about 15 RTP CDs. I want to be able to quickly identify which is
which via software.
