Helpviewer core dumps

Hi,

I had a helpviewer open while playing around with interrupts. After a
system crash, and subsequent re-boot, the helpviewer simply coredumps
with a memory fault. Is there a simple way for me to re-install it
without disturbing the entire disk? Any other ideas? I am not familiar
enough with QNX6 yet to offer much more information (unprompted). I’m
not sure if the executable or a shared library somewhere has been
corrupted. Everything else seems fine.

Thanks,

Geoff Roberts.

Some open files were probably corrupted when the system crashed. Try running
‘chkfsys’ and see if that solves the problem.

Nope. This didn’t help fix it. Nor did an uninstall/reinstall of the
momentics package.

I guess I’ll have to save some things off and rebuild the disk.

I had this happen yesterday. There is a phelp directory under .ph that
stores information about Helpviewer. I renamed it and Helpviewer
started working again. I lost a few favorites, and some other settings,
but I was able to get back in.

Yes, renaming phelp fixed it. Thanks very much, as even though I rebuilt
the drive, it happened again after I started playing with the timer
interrupt (which didn’t crash the machine!)

I have found, with 6.01a, that if you changed any of the config parameters
of Helpviewer or PFM, you had to completely exit all copies of that program
and then exit Photon. Then a ‘sync’ never hurts. Then you can go back into
Photon and restart whatever.

Very often, I would make a config change and save it and terminate the
program. Hours could pass, days even. THEN if the system crashed the
config files got screwed up. This was reported many times with 6.01a. I
thought it was supposed to be fixed in 6.2. I have not yet loaded 6.2, so I
can’t tell you one way or the other. But it sounds like the same problem.
