QNX 6.2 Boot problem

We have a flash disk and hard drive fitted to our system.

After power-up the BIOS scans and finds the hard drive and then boots from
Flash (all is OK
so far). QNX starts from flash and then says SCANNING for EIDE ----
After which it never returns.

Any ideas ?

With the hard disk removed everything starts up OK .

Hi Bob,

Are you booting from the Flash? If so are you using diskboot? Diskboot
really isn’t a good choice for an embedded environment. It was built for
developement environments only and not recommened for use on an embedded
device.

It sounds like you are in the process of evaulating QNX. If you would like
you can get an evaluation version of QNX 6.2 that will include mkifs which
will allow you to make a custom boot image that does not use diskboot. Talk
to a sales rep either in the UK or your local area:

http://www.qnx.com/howtobuy.html

They will gladly assist you in getting an evaulation version of the OS so
you can better test it.

In the meantime, try while booting to press the spacebar and disable
scanning of any other harddisks, also try the verbose modes and see
if that helps at all. Also ensure that you don’t have any MASTER/SLAVE
conflictions.

Best regards,

Erick
