me to join a newsgroup:
what OS do I need to have installed to
install QNX RPT 6.1 ?
Can I download the QNX OSs and QNX RPT. for free?

You are going to want to get QNX 6.2 not 6.1. And I would wait a bit before
snagging the full CD since 6.2.1 NC (the download edition, Non-commerical)
should show up pretty soon.

QNX is an OS – you don’t have to an OS installed. (Generally, you
want an open/spare partition on a hard drive on an x86 box.)

What used to be called “QNX RTP” for “Real-Time Platform” is no
referred to as (I hope I get this right) “QNX 6.2.x NC” for
“QNX Momentics Non-Commercial Edition, version 6.2.x”.
The previous answer suggested that the 6.2.1 (latest) version is
soon to be made available, and it would be available from a link
off www.qnx.com
