NIC installation

Hi Everyone,

I am new to QNX, but I have some experience in Linux,
I try to install a NE2000 PCMCIA clone into Laptop,
I don’t know how to start becuase I couldn’t find any help menu and couldn’t
find HOWHO, I don’t know what to do, please help.

Alfee Leung

If it is an NE2000 clone and it is in our enumeration files, the driver
should start automatically. Please post the output from ‘pin’, ‘pin cis’
and ‘ls /dev/io-net’.

Hi Hugh,

I have three cards with me, please advise which one will work in QNX NC 6.2,

3Com 3C575-TX, Dlink DEF-650 and Compaq HNE-300.

The point is are there any documentation to explain some
commands?

The following is the output of “ls /dev/io-net”

ip0 ip_en ipv6_en

The following is portion of the “pin CIS” output from my compaq NIC.

slay io-net
io-net -del900 vid=0x101, did=0x5057 -ptcpip

You should not have to pass any parameters to io-net. You should just be
able to ‘io-net -del900 -ptcpip’. Also, if you do pass command line
parameters, there must not be any spaces in the command line and also the
Vendor and Device IDs are from the output of the pci utility and not pin.
So for the 3Com 575 you would start io-net as follows:

io-net -del900 vid=0x10b7,did=0x5257 -ptcpip

The following is the “pin cis” output of my 3Com card.
