install after booting from CD

Is it possible to install once booted from CD?
Problem is that the standard install doesn’t work for
me (“could not get drive info for /dev/hd0”).
But I can boot from the CD.

How does one do this?
Just clicking the installer on the shelf doesn’t work.

If this is not possible, any idea why the error
“could not get drive info for /dev/hd0” occurs?

It can’t see /dev/hd0, or something like that. /dev/hd0 is your first
hard drive, the one you presumably want to install QNX on and boot from.

As far as being able to help further, I can’t. The only time I saw this
was when I tried to use a Maxtor 20GB drive with any IBM-brand PC and
QNX 6.2. I brought it to the attention of QNX, and they pretty much
ignored me, so I don’t know where it stands now. We chucked some brand
new Maxtor drives in the trash and ended up buying newer, larger, more
expensive, Seagates IIRC.

Thanks for the reply.
Once booted from CD, I can fdisk & dinit /dev/hd0, no problem.
But for some reason, when booting from CD, this message comes up.

Anyone have ideas how install to the hard disk once booted from CD?

So, can you boot from CD or that message comes up? Once booted in a… how many tries?

How doesn’t work standard install? Can you install and can’t boot QNX after installation or did you
get “could not get drive info for /dev/hd0” during installation?

Yes. But if you can boot from CD and fdisk /dev/hd0 & dinit /dev/hd0t79 , I don’t see the reason of
installation’s failure. If you can install QNX from CD but can’t reboot system later, then your
first step should be to boot QNX from CD (or press Esc during boot) and swap .boot and .altboot
files on hard drive. It’s much easier than install QNX manually. But it also means your hardware
isn’t supported and you will work without DMA modes of EIDE (i.e. slowly and utilize much CPU time
for disk I/O)

I can boot from CD and run from CD, no problem.
However, I’ve tried about 3-5 times to install from CD, but
hit this message every time.

Yup, “could not get drive info for /dev/hd0” during installation.

I can’t see the reason why either.
