Network hang problem

Using QNX 6.2.1B PE.

I have a new Dell Latitude Laptop computer. It has a TI PCI 1420
CardBus controller (vendor ID = 104c, device ID = ac51)

In it I have a 3Com Corp 3CCFE575CT net work card.
(vendor ID = 10b7, device ID = 5257)

When QNX boots it autoloads io-net with devn-el900.so. Then I
manually mount:
mount -Tio-net npm-qnet.so

It will appear to work briefly until I pump a few MBs through it
(I’m copying a whole development system onto it.) Then suddenly
networking stops working. It isn’t hung in the strictest sense of
the word. It just returns errors. Both on QNET and IP.

nicinfo looks somewhat OK. There is 1 bad TX error. It is still
receiving data.

If I slay and restart io-net with devn-el900 and npm-qnet it starts
working again. But it dies again after a few more MBs.

What can I do to make it NOT die?
What additional information do you need?

Are you running the copy in a text mode screen, or are you running Photon?
If you run the copy in text mode, do you still get the problem?

The network card does not seem to fail when not running photon.
I was trying to copy a large directory structure from one host to
another. Yesterday I tried 4 times and it failed each time. In text
mode I successfully did it 4 times without a failure.

Earthlink said that their e-mail system is down for routine maintenance
(in the middle of the day ?!?!?!?).

Anyway, it should be back in an hour or so.

Sorry about the inconvienece.

What QNX 6.2.1B PE? Says right here that the
latest version is 6.2:

http://www.qnx.com/support/releasenotes/index.html

Same thing here:

http://www.qnx.com/developer/download/updates/mo_nc_6.2/

I know that’s wrong, but that’s what the official
QNX web site says. An update would be helpful.

My understanding (I’m not from QSSL), is that the latest NC
(Non-commercial) version is 6.2.1B. If you baught the
professional version there is a 6.2.1B. I’m not sure if the
“B” patch is released or beta. but I’m using it.

I could swear that I wrote an “A” there.
The latest NC version is 6.2.1A !

PE shipped this month was “A” as well. But then again, I could swear there
was “B” version, at least I had a beta of it. Go figure…

The commercial 6.2.1B is released software, not just beta. It is available
for QNX Momentics PE and SE by download from MyQNX.

Thanks.

Updating the release notes page would be a nice touch.

It would be nice if “uname -a” showed you what patch level you were
running. but since it doesn’t, if anyone cares to checj just what
they are running you can load the “installer”, look at installed
software, and scroll down until you find “QNX Momentics . . .”.

It will show you what version and patch level you are running.

I meant the release notes page on the QNX
website, which is way out of date. See

http://www.qnx.com/support/releasenotes/
