QNX RtP manuals

We would like to buy QNX RtP manuals,
we have those for QNX 4.2x and we would like to buy
a nice printed copy of the current QNX RtP manuals.

Where should I go (website)
or
What number should we call to get them ?

We’re working on the printed books now. They should be available later
this year.

Sh-t!
I just got my library to buy the “Getting started with QNX-Neutrino”, and I
doubt if they would buy another one, just for me :frowning:

After going through the book Getting Started with QNX Neutrino 2, I think
that manuals will be a better alternative as the idiosyncracies of the OS is
not completely delineated in the book. This is not a review of the book but
rather for someone who is implementing a new system ( embedded ) out of the
box, the book GSWQNXN2 is not the right reference for it.

If somebody have references for such a thing, I would greatly appreciate
emails or posts.

Thanks,

Possibly before December 2000 ?

I have to finish everything before Christmas,
so it would be handy to have the manuals at end,
to read them.

Should we buy the Neutrino 2 books,
does it do the same ? approximately?

No promises. It takes a lot of work to get so many books ready.

The Neutrino 2.0 books are a good start, although a lot of functions and
utilities have been added. The big thing that’s missing, of course, is
Photon 2.0 – the 1.14 docs will help with general concepts, but the
widgets have changed, and there are a lot of new functions (especially
those for the cool graphics stuff).

Of course, you have the HTML docs already, but I realize that some people
prefer to read paper copies (but let’s not talk about that).

Would it be at all possible to get the online edocs in any form other than
HTML? Word, RTF, etc? Or even as a single HTML file rather than a slew of
seperate files? I would prefer to translate them into one of the various
eBook formats and it is somewhat of a pain to have to manually edit things
by hand to get them tweaked…

I would like to get them in those formats so that they could be kept on one
of my Windows CE or Psion machines for reference when away from the QNX
machines and easier searching…

I like Braille docs… not that I’m blind or anything, but I like the sensual
feel of all the big words as I run them up and down my … oops … sorry…

Let’s just say I prefer real documentation over the electronic kind

One big HTML ready to print on Laser could be a short term solution…
but click print, click print, 3000 times is not really ideal…

We’ve got the tools to convert the docs to other formats, but
it’s been a business decision not to.

I guess that leaves me on my own to try and massage the HTML version into
something more useable until the official printed versions come out…

Does anyone know of a tool that can convert FROM HTML to other formats? I’ve
seen some that go to plain text, but that obviously loses the rest of the
formatting. How many people would be interested in a version readable on a
Palm or WinCE machine?

I use adobe acrobat to turn and turned the docs website into a pdf. Several
actually… one for each book. Adobe grabs each link and adds the pages.
While it at least gives me hard copy it is not as good as nice pdf manuals
downloadable from QNX would be.
