Is there support for the internal ethernet controller in the SiS630 chipset?
If not, is there going to be any time soon?

You can check out our hardware support pages at:
http://support.qnx.com/support/hardware/index.html
The specific page for supported network network chipsets is:
http://support.qnx.com/support/hardware/platform/network.html
I did not see any support for this device.

Hi,
Is there anyone around that can answer this question? We are trying to
decide on a CPU board which has this chipset. Thanks

Hi
Thanks. I did check the support pages, and I didn’t see the chipset there.
But sometimes these highly integrated chipsets can pretend to be some other
kind of chip… I tried the standard fallback - the ne2000 driver. It’s not
clear if it works or not. (The driver loads and runs happily, but any
attempt to ping something on the net gets a “host is down” error). The SiS
website isn’t entirely clear on whether any emulation is possible either.
So, I assume I’m out of luck for the time being - I just want to be sure -
it’s an important decision for us to make. That’s why I would also like to
know if there’s any prospect for a driver for this chipset. It appears to be
used on increasing numbers of newer embedded PC motherboards. If I have to
wait a few months, it might be worthwhile getting the board anyway (it has
other desirable attributes), but if not, we have to try something else.
Thanks
Marc

Not at this time. In fact, I cannot even find any information on this
chipset on SiS’s webpage. Are you sure you got the product# correct?
http://www.sis.com.tw/products/lan.htm
Is where I was looking…

Yes, if you look in there, you see the SiS900. If you look in
http://www.sis.com.tw/support/de_faq.htm
you will find this:
Q: What is the driver support for the integrated 10/100BaseTX Ethernet
controller?
A: The Ethernet controller embedded in SiS630 is called SiS900, which
is a single chip and had already been mass produced for quite some time.
Driver support include Windows95/98, Windows2000, NT4.0, Linux,
SCO Unix, OS/2 and Novell. SiS Ethernet drivers have already been
certified with Microsoft WHQL and Novell.
I suppose that I can reasonably conclude from the fact that you haven’t
heard of this chip that you don’t have any software for it
Is there any chance that someone might work on a driver for this in the near
future? I don’t have much hope, but I have to ask anyway
Thanks
Marc

Okay, so it is an SiS9 based chip. Can you give me the name of the board
you are using an perhaps a URL? I have been meaning to get an sis9 driver
written but they tend to be embedded onto all-in-one mainboards and I have
not had any luck finding one so far.

The board is a “786LCD/s” from Inside Technology. Their US address is
www.inside-usa.com . We’re using their Pentium boards currently - they work
well, and the Inside people are very helpful, so I’m keen to get the new
boards to work for us.
Thanks

Interesting. I will see if I can arrange to get a board from them. Could
you send me an email so I could get your “real” email address? Thanks.
