io-net problems ??

Hi all,
I,m having troubles getting my pcmcia
(not a winmodem!) pccard modem settings
set properly. I’ve included the necessary
file out puts below for your assistance.
I have noticed that I seem to be getting
2 instances of io-net being reported in
the pidin ar file.
But, whatever the problem/culprit is,
the result is always the same from phdialer…

The 2 io-net’s is not good. I’d slay them both
off and restart a single instance. Make sure
you’re using /dev/ser3 in the dialer.

I’ve tried that…same end result though.
True, it does initiate a single instance of io-net, but,
again, same result - “connection failed”.
Perhaps the question here should be:
apart from supplying a work’round through the rc.local to
automate this slaying and re-initiating, for each boot-up…
why is this happening at all???
Pls. see the thread above with my name as sender for pertinent details
re:pci -v; pidin ar; pin con; pin cos; etc, etc, etc.

P.S. thanks seanb for the reply
