Calluna PCMCIA hard drive

Hi,
I am a graduate student from the Univ of Missouri-Rolla, and am
working on a project with QNX RTOS.
I am building an embedded system wherein I needed to use a Calluna
270MB Type-2 PC card Hard drive on the PCMCIA adapter(mother board and
PCMCIA adapter by VersaLogic.Corp).
From the QNX website it seems like this type of PC card hard drives
are not supported by QNX. So do I have any way in which this can be
overcome so that I can use the PC card hard drive.

Please help!!

Thanking you,
Sriharsha Patil.

Hi,
The PCMCIA drivers were able to detect the Calluna card with the QNX
OS. When we used Pin config it was able to query a configuration for the
card. Once this cofiguration was placed in pcmcia.cards and the system
rebooted, pin command recognized the card and displayed the card info.
When we typed in:
fsys.eide -vv fsys -n0=ata -N=PCATA eide -a320 -i7 -S &
the command fsys.eide responded with some of the card’s info but then
became unresponsive. A shut down was then attempted and the system responded
with “resources busy” after which booting from the original hard drive was
impossible. In addition the Calluna card is ATA compatible.
Any help would be appreciated.

Josh & Patil.

We just tried one here and works great, just pop it in, do a pin, get the
settings and start devb-eide with them and voila…
Will add this card to our supported h/w list.

And, for the record, I’ve also used one specifically in a Versalogic
setup – a VSBC-6. It work fine, there, under QNX4. I can’t see any
reason it wouldn’t work under Neutrino.

Hm… do you have RTP or Neutrino 2.0? If you don’t have the RTP, get
the RTP which has the PCMCIA/PC-Card support. That might be your problem.

Hello,

The card also works in qnx4 use the Pcmcia.generic and Fsys.eide drivers…
You should post in the qdn.public.qnx4 newsgroup if you have QNX4 questions…
Please see /etc/readme/pcmcia and /etc/readme/technotes/pcmcia technotes on
your 4.25 system.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi,
We saw the reply you sent us at the newsgroup. but we have only the
QNX 4.25 and not the QNX-neutrino so we could’nt use the devb -eide. So
is there some utility we could download to get to use the devb -eide
with the QNX 4.25RTOS.

Thanks for your help,

Patil & Josh.
