SH-4 confusion

Hi all,

I seem to have found two contradicting documents about Hitachi SH-4
support for Neutrino. The official QSSL press release at
http://www.qnx.com/news/tpnews/may15_00-hitachi.html declares support
for SH-4 by June 2000 (!), but there’s also a QDN knowlege base entry
at http://support.qnx.com/support/bok/solution.qnx?5655 which says it
doesn’t exist and isn’t even planned.

QSSL guys, could you comment on this please?

Thanks for pointing out the contradiction. I’ve pointed it out to the
appropriate people, but a press release is a press release. You can’t
retroactively change a press release after it’s been issued even if the
content within it is later proven incorrect.

Does it mean that SH-4 support is not planned anymore?

Please ignore the knowledge base entry. It has been deleted.
Sorry for the confusion. What you have read in the press release
is correct, with the exception of the release date. The press
release says it should have been released June 2000, when in fact
we have not yet released it.

The knowledge base entry should be re-added without the reference to the
SH-4. We have no plans to support the other processors (SH-3, DSP) that were
mentioned in the knowledge base entry.

or was the 32x add-on to the Sega Genesis DUAL SH-2’s ?
plus a 68000 in the Genesis, and another in the CD

the light, quick QNX6 does make me wish for it on my SparcStation2

When we first announced our plans for SH4 (the press release), things were

moving along fairly well with the port. Due to unforeseen issues, the
general beta release has been put off until these issues are resolved.

We are working very closely with a few select beta sites, whose feedback
thus far is very positive…stay tuned
