Parallel keeps low

Hi,

I’m writing a function which polls the parallel port to detect any inputs on X86 RTP. I found the data pinouts(DATA0-7) of the parallel keep low even which be connected to the power source, and the other pinouts(BUSY,PE) are able to respond to hi/lo inputs repectively. It’s not the case for the data pinouts on a Windows box with the same circuit. Obviously, the data pinouts(DATA0-7) had been grounded within the RTP machine driven by some processes/utilities(I’m wondering) and therefore, preventing the function I’m writing detecting any inputs on the parallel. I “slay” “devc-par” from /etc/rc.d/rc.local, but it does’nt work for me. Any idea to solve the problem? What configuration file do I have to modify? Thanks.
