EIDE drive compatibility

I got new Yamaha 2100E CD-RW drive (ATAPI). On RTP I can read data CDs, but
any attempt to play any audio CD gives me I/O error. Same CDs plays fine in
on that drive under Windows (no special drivers used) and they also play in
SCSI drive under RTP.

Anyone got ideas why?
The only thing to note is that drive is so called ‘high-speed’ writer, which
means that it can use both CLV and CAV (with compatible ‘high-speed’ media)
for writing.
