Adding /dev/ser3 to startup script

Hi,
I want to add /dev/ser3 at boot but can’t figure out where QNX 6 runs
devc-ser8250. I have a hunch it has to do with enums but nowhere do I
see devc-ser8250 actually started??? I can run a second devc-ser8250
from the command line which seems to work, or I can slay the default
version and restart, but then I lose the mouse…Thanks.

I had this same question/problem and asked it earlier in the installation
group. (sender: zouck, if you want to find it.) I also had heard that
QRTP was supposed to autodetect all serial ports at some time.

I got no reply. Starting a new devc-ser8250 seems the only solution I’ve
heard of so far.

I did see your question - if you look through the newsgroups you see lots of
questions that are never answered. I think this is a big problem with this
form of technical support, there is no guarantee if or when a question will
get an answer, regardless of how important it might be to you. I know I
could pay the per question fee, but geez…

The best plan is to leave the enumerators alone. You have already figured
out that you can run an additional devc-ser8250, give it the -u option to
make a specific entry in /dev. All you need now is to add this command
to /etc/rc.d/rc.local. I think the original question didn’t get answered
since John seemed to answer it himself.

Chris,

Thanks for the reply. It is appreciated. I understand the overhead finding and
answering questions in newsgroups can be, and I have gotten all my really
critical (show-stopper) questions answered this way by QNX and/or other users.
