Tape drivers

In our projects with QNX4 we used DAT drivers, streamers, …
When can we expect support for QNX6? Is it planned for 6.1?

There is no support right now. Tapes do not fit well into either block or
character I/O model and they did not find a compelling reason to bother
trying to make them work in QNX6, as they did for QNX4. Current SCSI drivers
will detect device but won’t create a /dev entry for it. SCSI pass through
would be very complicated and dangerous if you have other devices on the
bus.

A while back it was promiced to support generic CAM interface for SCSI
devices. When that is done it should be possible to use direct commands to
support all kinds of hardware, tapes and CD burners for example.

No statements, no comments?
What about at least direct SCSI commnad access?

We used direct SCSI commnad access for not supported commnads in QNX4.
We also made some attempts this way to control DVD drive in NTO1.0.

All we need is a device for tape driver to have the possibility to use
direct SCSI commands.
Can we expect that in a near future?
Can we expect support for generic CAM interface for SCSI?
