scsi problems

I use an aic29160 adaptec scsi controller ah I have troubles with
my two cd readers.

The driver is aha8.

Problem:
when I insert a cd it’s not automatically recognized
I have to refresh the /fs/ directory (by making an ls /fs/ or
displaying its contains using pfm) remove the cd, refresh,
reinsert it, refresh and then the cd0 directory appears.

Also this works fine with the second cdreader (cd1), but many
times this fails for the first one (cd0). Don’t know why.

Hi

How is your termination setup? Perhaps there is ghosting on the
SCSI chain due to inproper termination that causes the CD to show
up sometime but not other times.

Termination is fine. Every system (linux 2.2, solaris 8, windows
(urgh)) detects the cd insertion notification always without
problems.

The two readers are two plextor 32x max and they (of course) also
works fine
