Megahertz XJ10BT PCMCIA Network Card

I have an older (circa '99) Toshiba 4000CDS Laptop with the Topic 97
ethernet controller. I’m trying to get a Megahertz XJ10BT PCMCIA network
card working again with QNX 6.1 (It worked under 4.2x) . Although its not
listed under supported hardware, I thought I saw somewhere either here or in
the QNX KB how to get this card working, but I can’t seem to locate that
info again. Perhaps I was mistaken.

Anyway, has anyone had any luck with this card, or should I just punt and
get a newer card. Thanks,

–Todd

For devp-pccard to work properly with your Toshiba notebook, you will
have to go into the bios setup and change the PCMCIA configuration
from PCIC compatible to CardBus/16-bit. This should solve your problem.

I think I’ve done this, and pc-card seems to work. “pin” give me something
to the effect of card type “Network”, ioport= 200 irg = 3 for the card.

I’m having trouble determine which driver to use. I thought it was el900,
which I’ve tried to start with the various ioport=xxx and irq=xxx and
MAC=xxxxxxxx paramters, but to no avail. One clue - in /dev/io-net, I don’t
get the en0 file - I do get ip0, qnet0, and one other one, but know en0.

No, the driver for the 589 adapter is devn-el589.so.

‘io-net -del589 ioport=0x200,irq=3 -ptcpip…’

I don’t think this is a 589 adapter. The card is an older Megahertz XJ10BT.
When I try to start the el589 adapter, io-net returns with a “No Such
Device” error. When I use the el900,
I don’t get any error messages, but there isn’t an en0 in /dev/io-net - only
ip0, qnet0, and qnet_en.

If this worked under QNX4, what driver did you use?
