Video training demo available

Hi folks,

I’m slowly putting together video training, and am looking for feedback.

Currently, I’m proposing an 8-hour video course set that follows the “Getting
Started with QNX Neutrino 2” book that covers the QNX 6 kernel. To that
end, I’ve put together a 20 minute demo as a quicktime movie that you can
download from:

http://www.parse.com/training/intro.mov

I’d appreciate any comments you might have on any aspects of this. I’ll warn
you though, it’s about 33 MB

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
-RK

Great introduction Robert. Runs about 10 minutes.
Certainly recommended viewing.

What have you done to your voice, lol ?

I was expecting to see some human faces  The video is basicly a
PowerPoint
presentation with voice.

As far as the content, I don’t really have any suggestion to make
Since you are convering High Availability I think taking about the
instrumented
kernel would be great.

Even covering more then the kernel would be welcome.

Distributinge the whole think not only as .mov but also DIVX avi file,
would result in MUCH smaller while having better quality.

Great work!

Hi folks,

What have you done to your voice, lol ?

What do you mean? For a second I thought I released the original one,
where there was no space between the sound cuts and it sounded really
freaky

I didn’t see the point. I’m assuming that my audience knows that I’m a human,
and they don’t need to look at my lips move.

Excellent suggestion, thanks!

Well, I’m trying to “limit” it to 8 hours of video; there’s only so much that
can be covered there…

Distributinge the whole think not only as .mov but also DIVX avi file,

It will be sold as a VHS / DVD; I’m thinking of doing .MOV but with much higher
bitrate… The sound is 11025Hz with 4:1 compression, so it does sound a little
grainy. As far as the video goes, there are “speckles” that don’t belong
there, they are artifacts of the quicktime compression…

Great work!

Thanks!

Hi folks,

What do you mean?

I don’t recognize your voice. Is that really you?

Even covering more then the kernel would be welcome.

Consider it an idea for Tome II

But QNX can’t play MOV ;-(

If I was to buy this I would go with DVD, allow to jump all around
with great speed. On a VHS it would be a real pain to go to a specific
chapter/section.

You could even consider VCD/SVSD

grainy. As far as the video goes, there are “speckles” that don’t belong

Lately I’ve been playing with MPEG4 (DIVX). I observed files 4 times
smaller then MPEG2 (same resolution) while having very little effect
on quality.
