It seems to me that QNX is trying to depreciate the use of text mode
consoles in favor to the pterms. I still like and use text mode consoles.
The are MUCH faster.
But the one thing I really miss is the 50 line mode. Can/will this be added
as a feature in the future?

Overall speed optimizations are being worked on for the whole OS package.
I’m not sure about textmode consoles in particular.

They don’t turn on hardware scrolling, I believe.

would like to improve them!On the same machine I both under QNX4, I cat a big file, everything is a
blur
because of the scroll speed.
I then reboot under QNX6, do a cat of the same big file, and it’s not a blur
anymore. Still too fast to read on the fly but I can cleary identify some
words
here and there 
Not very scientific test you might say
I haven’t tried disabling hardware scrolling under QNX4 to compare.
