Question about QNET

Can Qnet can be used in WAN ?
Or it only support LAN enviroment?
Thank you very much.

QNET “can be” ride on ip if you start it with option
resolver=dns,bind=ip.

Then it can reach any QNET (also bind with IP) on WAN.

I’m also have a question.
Can the Qnet run across LAN?
In fact, I want to connect 2 remote user by Qnet with dial-up connection.

Thank you very much.

You can run QNET riding on IP over a LAN as well. For the dialup
connections, you can run PPP over the link, then QNET over IP.

hi,
I had tried Qnet on the LAN enviroment with NDP protocol. All QNX machine on
that LAN will be able to see each other automatically on the directory /net
when all of them setup the Qnet by the command “mount -Tio-net…”.
I want to know how can I achieve the same result if all machine are online
with dial up instead of LAN ?
And all machine can come from different ISP(different domain)…

Thank you very much.

No, you can’t. NDP relay on broadcasting.

Thx for answering.
If I use the argument “resolver=dns, bind=ip”.
I can get my expected result?

Not really.
You can’t “broadcasting” on dial up (which is a peer to peer) connection.
