multiple networks...

Hi…

I have a regular network (works fine), and a second pcmcia based
network.

How would I start the second network? When I do pin cis I do not see
any thing, and when I do pin there is nothing. I suppose that I need to
start io-net correctly, but I am not quite sure on how to do this…
(sorry if I missed a previous post to this answer).

Best Regards…

Miguel.

Have you checked to see if your card is on the list of supported hardware?

Yes it is. I have two cards: LinkSys EC2T and a D-Link DE-660. Both
exhibit similar behavior.

I suppose that what I need to do is start io-net with the correct
settings, but I do not know quite those settings are…

Thanks.

Miguel.

Hi Adam…

Can I have two io-net running simultaneously? Say, one with devn-pcnet
and the other with devn-de2000?

Regards…

Miguel

Hi…

Sorry, but there is another piece of information:

the card controller is a Texas Instruments 1225. In the list of
supported hardware, it says that devp-pccard supports this controller,
but it says for rtp 6.0.0. Does this controller supports the TI-1225 in
rtp 6.1.0 as well? Also, the system says that there are two
controllers, is it really two controllers, and each controller has an
IRQ attached to it. Is it really two controllers or one controller with
two interfaces?

I do not know, I am just rambling here now…

Miguel.

Hi…

I keep conversing with myself for now…

But just in case Hardware Support can help:

The card controller works, but not the pcmcia device driver. What does
this mean?

Also, pic shows nothing.

I have a regular network (works fine), and a second pcmcia based
network.

*) Current RTP device enumurator assumes en0 for pcmcia/cardbus,
so second pcmcia may not load properly without
some hack. Look /etc/system/enum/devices/net

When I do pin cis I do not see
any thing, and when I do pin there is nothing. I suppose that I need to

) Fix this first. Nothing on “pin cis” means the pcmcia/cardbus
controller isn’t working, or it is but can’t read card configs.
You can’t do devn-
things without “pin cis” working.

One suggestion is “devp-pccard -w8,8” but I don’t even know
what this option does. (My DELL laptop needs this on some cards)

Another cause may the card bay configured in power-down state.
Consult BIOS/APM settings (may not apply on newer systems)

This is a good hint. Thanks.

Yup, this is correct. In my system the cardbus works fine, but the
pcmcia adapter is not working. Your hint above may help.

Have not tried this yet.
