Writting a good Resource Manager

Hi all,

i’ve done writting a few resource manager’s for some projects at university.
Now i’m looking for informations and techniques about writting a good
resource manager.

Does anyone know some resources of information? Web pages, tech papers, etc.

Thx
Leandro

Hi

I think RK’s book “Getting started with QNX Neutrino 2” is all what you
need in addition to helpviewer docs and standard algorithms found in any
good CS book. The book is a bit expensive though (US$60) so you may
consider sharing it with somebody else interested in QNX.

Unfortunately, only what’s in the book and the docs… Most of the resource managers
I’ve worked on have been proprietary… I’m sure others will pipe up, though, if
they are aware of anything useful/available…

So, I got the atoz.c from RK book, and made some changes
to simulate serial ports; it doesn’t have the UART features yet, but
io routines is implemented (open(),read(),write(),close(),
notify(),select(), …) and io buffers. I always hook when writing
RM
If you want it, e-mail me!! This is RK’s book RM spawning!!!

Unfortunately, we cannot. There are already two chapters downloadable freely.
(The clocks and timers chapter appears on the website, and that as well
as the (I believe) processes and threads chapter appears on the QNX 6 CD).

If we put the whole book on the web, we wouldn’t sell any

If that means you are following education, consider this:

In our university library, there is the option to write down “wanna-have”
titles; along with the
title you have to provide an argument as to why the uni should have this
title available.

My (single) experience is that at least here, it works; the uni had the book
on the shelfs within
a couple of weeks.

Leon.
