Scanning for devices

During the boot QNX takes several seconds scanning for EIDE and SCSI devices.
Is it necessary or can it be disabled? I mean: does it scan for new devices or is the scanning required for the usual devices I always have to work?

It can be disabled by creating a new boot image.

Scanning for devices is part of the boot image.
