I trird to install QNX 6.2.1 NC on my computer with CD, but it just displayed:
Press ESC to .altboot …
Press the space bar to input boot options.
Detected EIDE.Scanning for devices.
\
system halt!
my computer is Dell 600SC, hd 40G.
what’s wrong here?

First thing to try is to press ESC when it asks and let it boot with alternative (DMA disabled). If it is still hanging, you can try to play with different boot options. “Press the space bar” when it asks and you should see a list of choices. Try to disable some enumerators. I found disabling isa pnp helped me in the past.
