photon in portrait mode

I need to rotate the screen 90 deg to display photon on portrait
mode… C&T provides a driver to do this under windows but unfortunatly
has no support for qnx :frowning: but i did manage to talk to their software
developer to gain the secrets on how they accomplished this …

they essensally hijack the frame buffer write function of windows to
write the data to the frame buffer rotated 90 deg…

how would i accomplish this under qnx 6? Being new to QNX I don’t have
the first clue how i would go about this…

I guess you will have to wait for the graphics DDK to come out.

With LCD that can do portrait and landscape that would be an interesting
features.

Yes it is interesting. I just got one of the Samsung monitors
with windows drivers which supports this. There are a number of
applications which fit better into the tall thin display better
than the short fat mode. My snow making interface comes to mind
(some mountain trails are long and vertical).

It seems to me that at one point QWindows drivers supported rotation - tho I never tried it.

in my case it works much better to display my app in portrate mode so that the display fits in the tiny space alotted for it(glass cockpit display) i hope the DDK comes out soon… anyone know for sure when?

If you would have asked tomorrow, I would have said this month for sure.

Mind you, if you would have asked last month, I would have said this month
for sure.

Next month (Feb.) for sure.

Just my 2 cents here. Either you will have to get the specs
for a Photon driver and write your own, this would be quite
generic and work will all existing programs, or you can
dispense with Photon Window and Desktop managers, and do the
rotation in your applications. This would be quite
limiting.

I wonder where the current format/ration comes from. I always
though it was not a good fit for a programming/text editing/DTP work.
It is however good for games
