crttrap fails with voodoo banshee card.

Hello all.

Trying to get my install working I am stuck. When I let the system start and
run crttrap it prints out:

/usr/photon/bin/devgt-iograpics -dldevg-banshee.so -I0 -d0x121a,0x0003
/usr/photon/bin/devgt-iograpics -dldevg-vesabios.so -I0 -d0x121a,0x0003
/usr/photon/bin/devgt-iograpics -dldevg-svga.so -I0 -dox1039,0x0200
/usr/photon/bin/devgt-iograpics -dldevg-vesabios.so -I0 -d0x1039,0x0200

and then the whole system freezes.

When I start into safemode and run “crttrap safe”, it gives me this:

Can’t open io-graphics received signal 11

IP: b0336872 ref: 0
symbol _Putfld@libc.so.2 file offset 36384

and then just stops, this doesn’t freeze the system though.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

Also,

If I try to view or cat /etc/system/config/graphics-modes it tells me:
graphics-modes: Corrupted file system detected

I can’t imagine that that is normal.
So I tried reinstalling, I still have the same problem with this and with
crttrap.

Thanks.

Hi Ted,

Check your system BIOS/CMOS for an option to
disable the onboard video. If there is, disable it and retry.

Regards,

Joe

Hello Joe,

Thanks for the help, I checked BIOS, but the BIOS doesn’t have that option.
I’m looking for an upgrade for it, but I doubt I am going to find it.

Is there anything else that would help?

Thanks again.

Hi Ted,

I sent you a script to run on your machine. This script will generate a tar file
that contains graphics information about your system. Can you send that tar file
to us.

Thanks,

Joe

I sent the tar file to the reply to address in the email I received. I could
post it here as well if someone wants it.

Thanks again.

Hello all.

I got a bit further here. The problem i am having is because of an onboard
video card and a regular one. crttrap doesn’t like having them both (in my
case anyway). I wasn’t able to disable the videocard via the bios, but i did
do it from a jumper on the mother board. (to be exact the VGA_SEL jumper).

After doing that crttrap works just fine and brings me to the next step
which is confirming its settings, at which point neither my mouse or my
keyboard works. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks.

Hi Ted,

What type of mouse/keyboard is it? USB? Cordless? some details would
be great.

Thanks!
