When I try to run any photon application on geode 5530 chipset (MediaGX, I
guess), it runs too slow. I am using devg-cyrix.so.
Is anyone working with this chipset, and running photon application with
acceptable performance?
Hi,Ricardo:
In fact,I’ve just finished my job of working on a GX1+5530 board with
QNX6.1,also I used the devg-cyrix.so under 800x600x16.the photon and the
applications works fine.I do not know what’s happening on you,but I have a
suggestion of increasing the video memory in the bios, and see if it works.
hope this helps.
ChaoLi.

Thanks for your response, but increasing video memory did not increase
performance…
Our system has 64 Mb RAM and is using 4 Mb for video.
I could run XWindow with linux, and performance is not what we expected but
it is running a lot faster than photon…
Even a very simple photon application that just keep drawing a few lines
uses a lot of CPU time (process bar on shelf is running at more than 50% in
a Cyrix 233 MHz).

Hmmm interesting. We have seen quite a few things with the Geode, but
I haven’t heard anyone complaining about the performance being that
bad. Let me ask our graphics guys and see if they have any suggestions.
Could you possibly send us your application (source and binary
if possible) and information on your system setup (resolution
and color depth used) so we can try it here.
Also could you please download the graphics information grabbing
script from:
