Printing problems; fonts and graphics

Hi folks,

having some problems printing stuff using Photon and Voyager.

There are two problems. I have a logo that kind of makes a “letterhead”
out of the printout, and the logo is on a white background and is in red.
When it prints out, it shows up on a almost-black background.

The image is a .gif file, and the way that I print is to simply print to
a file, print1.phs, and then run “phs-to-ps print1.phs | lpr” to a
postscript printer. (I’m not smart enough to figure out the the photon
to print spooler to lpr trick today. That’s tomorrow’s project )

The second problem is that the font spacing on the printout makes it difficult
to read. For example, the word “Office” completely jams together the “ffi”
part into about the space of 3/4 of the “c” character. In any event, all
characters are really tightly jammed together. This happens no matter what
font size I select (via the “Font+/-” button in voyager).

I’d be happy to provide the .gif, the .phs files, the .ps files, whatever
you need.

Thanks,
-RK

Hi RK,

Could you send me the .gif, the .phs file and the .ps file ?
Also what version of RTP are you using?
What type of printer are you using and how is it connected to your
system (i.e. parallel or network )?

Thanks
Brenda

The news server is… welll… “funky” at this point. I just logged in now
(2001 12 05 14:39) and found that a whole whack of messages suddenly appeared
out of nowhere… Thus, there are a bunch of people “pinging” things…
An hour or so when I last checked the newsgroups, there was just a few posts,
one or two here and there. Now there’s like 20 to 30 in the higher-traffic
groups. IS should probably be told about this, unless they just “fixed”
something

I’ll look for your post…

Just out of curiosity which news server are you attaching to
nntp.qnx.com or inn.qnx.com?

That way I can let IS know just in case…

Has any one seen an AppleTalk PAP (Printer Access Protocol) driver for
QNX?

Hi, I connect to inn.qnx.com. And yes, all of a sudden yesterday there was
a bunch of messages that had been queued for days.

I saw that for the last several days traffic was way down. Who could I send
a message to if this ever happens again?

Hi Bill,

I have brought this to the attention of IS and there are plans to merge
the two servers in the future, this will eliminate the delay that people
are seeing.
