‘When we open the source’ is not a good answer for those who need it
now/soon, because you’re talking about opening source for a full year
already and it’s not open still. Might as well take another year or two
before it happens…

I hope not. Good point though.

What are you saving anyway by not providing it, space on the CD image?

Extra build time, extra support time. However, good stuff is in the
works to make that sort of thing easier.

At least put it on your homepage along with other ‘unsupported’ stuff.

Alright already!

http://staff.qnx.com/~cburgess/libmex.so

You will need to make a libmex.so.1 link to it somewhere, you will need
to do something like

qcc -o mathex mathex.cc -nostdlib++ -lstdc++ -lmex

Unless you want to link your libm.so to libmex.so.1

Any problems to offer the SOURCES ??

Yes. I would be fired.

I don’t think that was the sort of problem/answer he was looking for.

Is that an American expression? It doesn’t mean anything

Stupid question, stupid answer! ;v)

The sources will be offered when the infrastructure is ready. It’s not
that far off now (believe it or not!).

Abraham Lincoln was assinated in a theatre. (Early, famous, president
of the USA.)

Sorry Colin.

It’s interesting how easy it is to just ASSUME that someone else knows what
you are talking about.

The metaphore is “Beside some really, Really, REALLY bad thing, look for the
trivial benefits.”

I know an other one from Abraham Lincoln:

“You can cheat the poeple … but only for a limited time”

When will we see the SOURCES … any ideas ?

Stupid behavior (regarding sources) provocates stupid questions …

The sources will be offered when the infrastructure is ready.

An OS is always in flux … will it ever happen ?
I got in the meantime the impression that QSSL will not open up
their sources.

It’s not that far off now (believe it or not!).

Any dates ?

I don’t think we’re being stupid wrt releasing the sources. However,
we do tend to announce things a little early, before we really have
a good idea as to when they will be available. This is something
we’re trying to rectify.

The sources will be offered when the infrastructure is ready.

You have to realize that it’s not just a case of throwing all our
source on a CVS server. There are zillions of things to be checked
first (licensing etc) before we can do this. Not only that, but
we are currently undergoing major structural changes wrt source trees,
build processes and the like, all of which is going to be cool, but it
taking up time.

It’s not that far off now (believe it or not!).

Any dates ?

It’s not going to be all at once (there will be a shake-down period),
but believe you should see some action by March.

This was not an official press release, nor was it a promise. I am not in any way involved with the public source project.
