Using ddd with the SDK under Windows

Can one use ddd from Windows using the Windows hosted tools to debug a
non-GUI application?
I tried using ddd, but keep getting the help message.
O:\PROJECTS\dst>ddd hello
Runs a Windows program or an MS-DOS program.

START [options] program [arg…]
START [options] document.ext

/m[inimized] Run the new program minimized (in the background).
/max[imized] Run the new program maximized (in the foreground).
/r[estored] Run the new program restored (in the foreground). [default]
/w[ait] Does not return until the other program exits.

O:\PROJECTS\dst>start hello
No application is associated with the specified file. Create
an association by using the Explorer.

hello is a “hello world” program built for PPC, and I would like to demo
cross development from Windows using a graphical debuger like ddd.

Thanks

Hi Alex,

DDD port will be added to the Windows SDK in the next beta drop of 1.1.1,
coming sometime around December.

Regards,

Marcin

Hi
Any news on this?

DDD won’t be included in the upcoming beta release, but it should appear
somewhere on QNX’s web site for users to download it (it is unsupported
product of course).

Also another question about DDD-how can one use ddd to debug threads and.or
multiple processes?

I would say the same way as you do it in GDB.

Regards,

Marcin

Thanks

I don’t see why it should be unsupported.
Offering Windows hosted development tools without a way to debug
graphically is not a credible development product.

Do you know of other ways of being able to do debugging via a graphical
interface using the QNX SDK under Windows (ie disregarding the Metrowerks option).

We have a future plans with a Eclipse product, for more info please goto:

It is a 3rd party software, it is not our product.

Slightly off-topic; couldn’t one use any GDB protocol debugger for

debugging QNX6.1 apps across the network ?

If so, then I would heartily recommend the insight debugger from Red
Hat, as a good windows solution; of course, I wouldn’t expect QSSL to
support it, since commercial support is available from Red Hat.

btw: I develop on QNX6 natively, so I have no personal experience with

this (or desire to , but I have used the insight debugger on

Windows for non QNX related stuff, and I was quite impressed with

it. Quite frankly I don’t like ddd.

No, because pdebug does not conform to ‘GDB remote debugging protocol’.
QSSL has modified GDB to talk to pdebug using some homegrown protocol.
