Port of mozilla-browser?

Has anybody successfully port the mozilla-browser into QNX RTP?

A. Kuntz

There was a port while back, which did not work well. QNX is working on new
port now.

Uhm… What does it mean “did not work well”? Was it coredump-ing? Or it
was working, but having a serious problems with rendering/etc?

In your opinion, does it deserve to cope with mozilla4rtp?

Both.

QNX is about to release alpha/beta of their port. If you feel like
you’ve got lot of spare time, spare hard drive space and CPU power and
have required knowledge, you can always checkout mozilla and start
playing.

I’ve tried that and can give you some impressions:

  1. You need 2Gb of space to build it. And some extra libraries & tools
before you start. Plus whole night (or day) to build it.
  2. Photon version from mozilla.org is unfinished and does not even
    compile.
  3. If you manage to build it, it will complain about unresolved symbols
    in DLLs and crash.
  4. If you manage to fix the immediate crash, it will be slow, memory
greedy and will crash here and there. Some of things in Mozilla were not
    designed with ‘Photon in mind’.
  5. X version does not build either because changes made for Photon broke
    X-based build
  6. If you manage to build X version it probably will be slow, memory
    greedy and crash anyway.

Very detailed (and convincing) definition of “not working” Igor
