While not here yet, Opera is working on a version for RTP, and they have
a new newsgroup for it. At news://news.opera.no is the group opera.qnx.
Also, the press release on it:

i looked at those screen shots at qnxstart.com. Looks like opera has a
looong way to go… interface seems very incomplete… i’d guess it’ll take
them good 3 or 4 more months based on the screen shots. speaking of which, i
wonder how much longer it will be till qnx releases next major release…

Interface seems very incomplete ? What I see in the screenshots is just a
window with web contents in it, no interface at all…

Well, it seems to me all the work is in the HTML engine; I can’t imagine
adding back and forward buttons, a url text field, and some menus will
take 3 - 4 months. That said, a screenshot says nothing about how well
the HTML engine works; if it works well, then I think we’ll see
something fairly soon, if not then it might be 3 - 4 months, but not
because of buttons and menus.

You might want to take a look at how the Voyager client-server system works.
The UI is finished, it is called voyager.

Now that’s interesting. You mean to say that you can use the opera engine
and the voyager interface?? Don’t have time to read any docs so I guess i’ll
believe it when i see it…

Correct. When you run voyager notice how there is a voyager and a vserver.
Notice the same thing happens when you run pkg-installer and helpviewer. If
you have PhAB installed take a look at the PtWeb widget - it provides the
encapulation of this client-server interface. The mozilla port also supports
running as a mozserver backend to the voyager front-end.

I don’t know the state of the qnx port but I choosed it on NT and Linux for few
month and I’m very happy with it.
news reader is a little bit strange, I don’t really like it but other features
are very cool!!
The UI is very accomplished, don’t stay on a screen shot!
Alain.
Actually…i use opera on my windows partition. It’s simply my favorite
browser…yes - i like it better than explorer…once qnx has the following
things:
- Opera web brower (coming…)
- Rebol/View port (coming…)
- Pepper text editor (coming…)
- Solid Notebook support for a nice notebook under 3.5 pounds (don’t know if
this will happen…haven’t seen any compatible subnotebooks with qnx yet)
I’ll no longer use windows. Not because I hate windows…but because i like
the quick and light feel of qnx much better…i mean first thing i see when i
open a windows folder is the clouds in the background…ridiculous…

Here is the link to text editor…p/s: i posted news about it on qnx a while
back…
Really the best programmers editor i’ve ever used…but poorly marketed…
had an older version available for beos. Someone is working on a port for
qnx. Maybe if you email author about it…he’ll have more pressure to hurry
up with qnx port!
