I compiled 3.0.1 right “out of the box” from the ssh.com
ftp mirror site. The only thing I did was disable “X” by configuring
it “–without-x” or some option like that. (I had some grief with the
location of header or library files).

The whole process took about 10 minutes.

Also you could point your pkg-installer to:
http://developers.cogentrts.com/repository/
and look for secure shell there.
