I read in www.videolan.org, that is possible run DVD under QNX. Did
anybody try it??

Run DVD? As in play movies or as in read file file from it. You can use
DVD
just like CD and with some DVD-RW/RAM (not sure which) you can even write to
them.
But you can’t play movies, because of licensing issue QSSL is not
distributing the
MPEG2 codecs.

CD-RW and DVD-RAM are not handle the same way 
I’m not sure if it’s DVD-RW or DVD-RAM that will work. The idea is
the DVD writel handles the writing on its own, just like a HD, there is no
need for special software.

No caveats, DVD-RAM is essentially a huge floppy disk, from OS/software
point of view. Well, as long as OS is smart enough to figure what media you
have in drive (writeable or not) and does not just treat them all like CD -
most OSes can’t do that without special drivers, even WinXP only supports
2 models. But QNX6 has this functionality, because Motorola needed it at one
point 
You can initialize DVD-RAM with any kind of filesystem you have support for,
such as QNX or FAT32, mount and access in the same way as floppy.
Optionally, you can even create partition table (so the device is more like
hard drive or magneto-optical drive than floppy). You can also write to raw
device, using any utility like dd or cp.
Speed won’t be fast if you use filesystem, because DVD-RAMs have poor seek
time specs. One drive currently on market seems to have much better seek
time than others - Panasonic LF-D311/321, so I’d suggest that one.
Note, none of other DVD formats (R/W, +RW, +MRW, -R, +R) are supported. I
don’t even know why they keep being developed - once all DVD players can
read DVD-RAM (some already can) they all won’t make much sense.
